Statics

Individuals who complete the MERT 22005 STATICS course will gain an understanding of basic vector mechanics, calculation of reactions from applied forces, drawing free body diagrams, working with equations of equilibrium, analysis of simple structures, calculating mass properties and forces due to friction.

Funding Opportunities

Currently licensed Ohio teachers can apply for reimbursement of the Computer Science Endorsement coursework. The financial support is available through the 21st Century Computer Science Workplace program funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

Quality Fundamentals (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGR 33700 QUALITY TECHNIQUES course will receive an introduction to quality management and the tools and techniques including the basic tools identified by ASQ (American Society for Quality) as well as an introduction to Lean and Six Sigma. The information presented helps prepare the student to qualify for the Quality Process Analyst Certification. This course is offered online.

Plastics Technology (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 32101 POLYMERS I course will receive an introduction to various polymers, thermoplastics, and thermosets. Students will gain an understanding of the processes used to produce products and be given an outline of polymer chemistry including methods of testing and identification. This course is offered online.

Material Science (online course)

Individuals who complete the ENGT 43363 MATERIALS SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY course will study the nature and family of engineering materials. The focus is on understanding the relationships among structure, properties, processing, and selection of materials in designing industrial parts and systems.  This is an online course.

Manufacturing Engineering Materials

Individuals who complete the MERT 12005 PROPERTIES OF MATERIALS course will gain an understanding of the structure and physical and mechanical properties of engineering materials, such as metals (ferrous and non-ferrous), polymers, ceramics, and composites. Students learn the mechanical behavior of materials under different types of loading and testing of mechanical properties including elasticity, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, shear strength, bending strength and hardness.

Manufacturing Processes

Individuals who complete the MERT 12004 MANUFACTURING PROCESSES course will gain an understanding of various manufacturing processes such as extrusion, molding, forging, casting, stamping, piercing, joining, and finishing. Investigates the various ways parts are made from the vast array of materials available. Hands on experience will be gained through working with metal casting, lathes, forging and machining operations.
