As the semester comes to a close, ������Ƶ is asking faculty and staff to reduce campus energy consumption over winter break (Dec. 23-Jan. 2). As a result of collective efforts over the 2017 holiday break, the university avoided more than $25,000 in energy costs over nine days. The greenhouse gas emissions reduction was equal to taking more than 50 passenger vehicles off the road for one year. Two second-year students from the ������Ƶ State East Liverpool physical therapist assistant program, Jordyn Midcap and Lacie Graham, presented their research findings at the first-ever East Central District Student Symposium of the Ohio Physical Therapy Association. Hayley Shasteen, a junior psychology/biology major on the Salem Campus, took first place honors at the ������Ƶ Summer Undergraduate Research Experience competition. She was one of 60 participants from all ������Ƶ campuses and competed in the psychological sciences division. The Area Agency on Aging 11 recently donated books and money to the ������Ƶ State East Liverpool Season’s Readings project, marking the agency’s support of the project for a second year. The donation included more than 300 children’s books, along with $600 to purchase additional books, which will be distributed by ������Ƶ State to youngsters along the parade route of the East Liverpool Christmas parade.
